Youth Festival 2025: “Reduce Plastic Use, Build Healthy Lives”
The Youth Festival 2025, organized by Bangladesh Green Environment Research Centre in collaboration with the Department of Environment (DoE), took place on 23rd November 2025 at the DoE Headquarters in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. This event aimed to raise awareness and promote action on reducing plastic usage, encouraging sustainable living practices, and protecting the environment. Under the theme “Reduce Plastic Use, Build Healthy Lives”, the festival attracted a large number of youth and community members eager to contribute to creating a cleaner and greener future.
As a private organizer, we were honored to be invited by the Department of Environment to take the lead in this impactful event. The festival began with an opening assembly at the DoE headquarters, followed by a lively procession of youth carrying banners and spreading messages on the importance of cutting down on single-use plastics. Throughout the day, various workshops, speeches, and interactive sessions were conducted to inspire and equip participants with practical solutions for reducing plastic consumption in their daily lives.
The event featured speeches from environmental experts, government officials, and youth leaders who shared their insights on how individuals and communities can play a vital role in protecting the environment. Attendees actively participated in various activities such as pledge boards for plastic-free living, interactive recycling tips, and the distribution of reusable bags. The day concluded with a closing ceremony where participants received certificates, and a group photo was taken to commemorate the collective efforts made to combat plastic pollution.
This event served as a reminder of the crucial role that youth play in shaping a sustainable future. It not only engaged participants in meaningful discussions but also provided them with the tools to take immediate action. The success of the festival reflects the growing commitment of the youth in Bangladesh to lead environmental change and tackle the pressing issue of plastic waste.
In the weeks following the event, the digital campaign #GreenYouth2025 was launched to keep the momentum going. The campaign encourages everyone to continue sharing their efforts to reduce plastic use and promote sustainability. Participants were encouraged to use this hashtag on social media to showcase their daily practices in living sustainably.
As an organization, we are proud to have partnered with the DoE and contributed to such a transformative event. Our goal is to continue fostering a culture of sustainability through future initiatives and community-based programs that promote eco-friendly lifestyles and reduce environmental impact.
Although the main event has concluded, the mission continues. We invite everyone to stay connected through our social media platforms and sign up for upcoming community workshops, clean-up drives, and other initiatives aimed at making Bangladesh a cleaner and more sustainable place to live.
